THINGS I ACTUALLY TRIED ON

The following songs are all something that I, in some way or another, actually tried to make unique. They might be remixes of existing songs, or entirely new songs in themselves. Each one here I pretty much bled over in one way or another, starting with a blank FL or Famitracker file, then just working at it until I felt things went well.

--Touhou Fantasy Battle--
Somewhere on my computer's harddrive is a full sprite sheet for FF3-esque Touhou characters, all prepped and ready to be placed in its own NES-style RPG. A lot of math didn't pan out, and the project was stalled. However, I did begin to write the game's score a bit. This was to be one of the main battle themes, and I feel it sounds pretty nice. It's a remix of Alice's theme, "Doll Judgement", from the Touhou Project. Even though this song sounds pretty nice, it's actually got an entirely unused track in it. I wanted to put in some sort of extra harmony, but I couldn't ever find one that fit that wasn't blatantly ripping off the song even more...

--Spring Colored Master Spark--
I had a really vauge idea for a Harvest Moon x Touhou fangame, and it turned out that I really just planned out an intricate dating simulator instead. The game never really had much (read: any) code written for it, but as with all my ideas, it's still heavily detailed out in writing somewhere. I made this song for what the spring theme would have been. Being a remix of "Love Colored Master Spark" from the Touhou project, I felt like this was a very nice experiment in theming at the very least. To those who don't know, the original is -extremely- more intense than this, being a battle theme for a witch who enjoys power over finesse.

--Gauntlet Song A--
Once upon a time I believed I could make a project that had to do with the original Gauntlet games. I still have a lot of the ideas detailed out, but I ran into some issues with the multiplayer. Oh well. This song was written in Famitracker, as opposed to FL studio, so it's actually NES-ready, technically. I used the Konami VRC chip to suppliment the bass, so if anything, it'd need a specialized cart. This song was supposed to be either for a trailer or the last level, I couldn't decide. Reguardless, I felt as if it was a nice attempt at something.

--Gauntlet Song B--
This was for that same project listed above. Obviously based on Song B of the original NES Gauntlet, my only regret with this song is that I couldn't quite figure out an amazingly awesome way to remix it better than the way I did, because it fits the mold of the original song pretty tightly. However, there -are- differences, mainly in the way the drums and bass are played out, which I always felt was the best part of the song anyway. Oh well, it still sounds pretty good.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--Misty Lake--
This song is a remix of "Lunate Elf", the 2nd stage theme of Touhou 6 - Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil. It was written for a game project I had dubbed "Touhou Yukkuri". The game itsself would involve Cirno going around Gensokyo in a metroidvaina-esque manner. This area would have been, obviously, the Misty Lake, which was the first area of the game. The goal was to provide something soothing and safe sounding, as a safe haven.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--Lullaby of Deserted Hell--
This is a remix of "Lullaby of Deserted Hell", the 5th stage theme of Touhou 11 - Subterranean Animism. It was written for the same project listed above, for the underground Former Hell area. The song itsself actually isn't finished, nor named with anything unique, and could use a bit of polishing in my opinion. However, I feel the overall goal and mood was achieved either way. I do plan on finishing this one day.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--Quiet Room--
A very short piece, and more ambient than anything. Those few notes you do hear in it are a very slow and small exerpt from "Beloved Tomboyish Daughter", the 2nd boss theme from Touhou 6 - Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. This was written for that same project listed above, and was imagined as the track to an eerily quiet room, such as the item rooms from most Metroid games.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--Apparations Stalk Hell--
Oh boy, this song. This was supposed to be a hardcore remix of both "Soul as Red as a Ground Cherry" and "Apparations Stalk The Night", the 1st stage and boss themes of Touhou 6 - Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil, respsectively. This was my first song that I put together using the electric guitar plugin that -wasnt- a simple reskin of a midi. While I did put a bit of time into it, after a point, I felt like the song was dragging on too long. It was supposed to pick up into a faster pace, but the way it was sequenced, I didn't ever really find a good way to do it. Reguardless, I feel as if what I did put down is worth mentioning, even if it's unfinished. If I were to continue this song, which I still want to, I feel like it'd have to be a rehaul more than a continuation.
